SEARCH Faculty

A diverse core faculty team is the foundation of SEARCH's success. SEARCH faculty comprise a team of academics and professionals, who are able to create a bridge between applied research in practice, and provide leadership for evidence-informed practice.
Faculty members apply their expertise in development, design and delivery to a cross-section of SEARCH's three learning themes of Choosing, Creating and Using evidence. This capacity supports cohort-based learning, as well as just-in-time advice and support. SEARCH Classic and Research Development Advisor (RDA) faculty come primarily from the Universities of Alberta, Calgary and Lethbridge, as well as Medicine Hat and Red Deer Colleges . Additional faculty members are engaged to bring special expertise and to support participants from Saskatchewan.
Within SEARCH Classic, faculty design and support a unique, cross-disciplinary, integrated curriculum, aimed at building participant capabilities within the context of the working environment. Over the past decade, faculty have mentored more than 120 health professionals from nearly every discipline and sector, who have completed more than 25 provincial (group) projects relevant to a number of organizations and more than 150 local (individual) projects relevant to a participant’s organization.

RDAs are integral to the delivery of SEARCH Custom services, supporting research projects conducted by health practitioners and developing skills in evidence use among health managers. RDAs also connect SEARCH to the regions it serves, and increasingly provide links to SEARCH Classic participants at the local level, as well as responding to needs and ideas identified through regional consultations. The role of the RDA is evolving from an isolated position responding to local requests, to a more integral function within SEARCH (similar to that of the Classic faculty). RDAs have input into program design and development, key business activities and staff orientation, as well as involvement in Classic modules.
